Work culture — balance & toxicity

Thought of writing something; though subtle, however important. Please bear these in mind if you’re seriously considering few unwanted & toxic things at work/office knowingly or unknowingly:

- Trust nobody. That doesn’t mean you dislike everybody. Be moderate & moderation should be your middle name professionally or personally — Period!

- What happens at office/work, you must park that at office/work. Never take office gossips to home and vice versa. Serves no purpose rather than adding extra baggage to your brain with the expense of gaining IMMATURITY!

- Enter office on time & exit on time. Your systems (desktops/laptops/gadgets) aren’t helping to improve your health either mentally or physically. A serious concern for early Alzheimer’s!

- Never make GF/BF and/or brother/sister at work/office. Nothing wrong, but aces are high that it may backfire adding idiotic pain. A good colleague or friend should do good irrespective of the age/gender or experience.

- Please eliminate the word “expectation” at work. Please expect nothing. If somebody helps, feel thankful. If not, you will get to learn the things on your own which is even a better proposition.

- Always learn, relearn & unlearn (unlearning is very important in this era, since you always don’t get to work “under” more knowledgeable bosses than you. However, when you’re working “with” a leader (not a boss), these things get nullified. Please read this statement once again and reread the words under & with — all makes sense, right?

- Never rush for any position. If you get promoted, congrats! If not, it doesn’t matter. You will always be remembered for your knowledge, skill and politeness & not for your designation & cabins. Please remember, there are many deserved people always underprivileged than what you are as you in parallel come across undeserved people in better positions. Again balance & moderation is ubiquitous, none is an exception!

- Never run behind office stuff. You have better things to do in life. Well, a “BIG NO” to I/am — “have invested blood & sweat, honest, humble, slogging extra hours, shoulder responsibility, maturity, blah blah etc,” emotional dialogues with your management. They are businesspeople. Entrepreneurs look only at P&L. Period! Hence, please focus on your productivity & not trying to prove every now & then. No businessman would let go a performer. SIMPLE! As a matter of fact, even words in the dictionary gets replaced quite often, my friend, corporates are so shrewd. Fact on stone!

- Avoid taking everything on your ego. Your compensation matters & you are being paid for what you deserve?! even though you’re not, please use your assets & belongings to achieve happiness & not lament about that void you assume! Life moves very fast & time is too expensive to take a halt at silly things. Thick statement though!

- It doesn’t matter how people treat you; Please be your own self as your mind suggests; but, yes with a good attitude. Please remember, you’re not everyone’s cup of tea.- Finally, at the end nothing matters except family, friends, home, and Inner peace. Enjoy your life & your biggest accolade, trophy, recognition, biggest milestone or achievement will always be HEALTH. Protect it. Your money will not.

The very obvious fact we all know is that, work/office caters to only 1/3rd of your clock, when taken too seriously, may/will end up screwing the other 2/3rd of your clock (family & health). A family of 4 doesn’t have a common agreement or opinion, would you seriously think, that will exist at work? Likes of Jobs, Gates or TATA are of a different league altogether. A wallpaper of them doesn’t mean it’s easy to become one. Just get motivated & if you really have that quality, there’s lot of hardship to be endured and nothing will stop you.
